Join us for a free presentation from the National Park Service in honor of Native American Heritage Month.
To commemorate the month, the Civil War Defenses of Washington will be presenting a free short lecture about the approximately 29,000 Native Americans who served in the Union and Confederate armies during the Civil War. They were found in the Eastern, Western, and Trans-Mississippi Companies. They fought bravely and passionately for their sides and were instrumental in achieving victories in certain key battles.
